Louisiana's exports of merchandise increased 5 percent in the first half of 2012 compared with the same period of 2011, according to the International Trade Administration, from $27 billion in the first half of last year to $28.4 billion in the first six months of this year. The biggest gains came from Venezuela, Gibraltar, France, Turkey and Colombia. Petroleum products, agricultural products, chemicals, food and related products and machinery are the state's key products for export.
The ITA's commercial service in New Orleans and various partners within the state will host a trade mission to Panama in September. For more information, call the commercial service at 504.589.6546 or go to www.export.gov/Louisiana.
